Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Bajwa help support and rescue old, battered woman in Haryana

As a video of an old woman being beaten by two women in her house in Haryana went viral, actors Diljit Dosanjh and Sonam Bajwa retweeted the video to make sure that the culprits go behind the bars. The two tagged some Haryana ministers for instantaneous action on the offenders.

The incident took place in Sonepat where an elderly, frail woman is being beaten shamelessly by two women, one after the other. After this, the weak woman is heard crying miserably in the video. In a tweet by MLA and BJP Delhi spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, he asked if anyone knows the source of the video.

Both Sonam and Diljit replied to the MLA’s tweet, ‘This happened in Sector 23, Sonipat, Haryana’. Sonam Bajwa not only tagged Haryana CM, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Haryana police, but also added, ‘Plz look into this urgently’. Tagging Sandeep Singh, a former Hockey captain of team India and current sports and youth affairs minister of Haryana, Diljit tried to bring the matter into Sandeep’s eyes through his tweet, whom the actor has portrayed in his sports biopic ‘Soorma’, made in 2018.

The officials said that they have arrested a woman and her mother for abuse post a video showing them beating an elderly, frail woman. After this Twitter search for the monstrous women, supported by Bagga, Diljit and Sonam, besides other netizens, the matter came into the light and Sonepat Police arrested two women.

Both women are suspected to have escaped once they got to know about the First Information Report against them, but are arrested later. The viral video shows the woman, identified as Saroj, physically abusing an aged woman, allegedly her 82-year-old mother-in-law Sukhdei. It is supposed that Saroj’s children have captured the videos on mobile phones.

They have been booked under sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. After this video of brutal act went viral, it reached and angered Diljit, Sonam, Bagga and netizens the most.
