Do You Need to Shave Eyebrows Before Microblading?

Are you frustrated by how long it takes you to use makeup to perfect your eyebrows every morning? Do you wish you could save money on cosmetics and have more time to sleep in every day? If so, microblading may be right for you. However, to be considered a good candidate for this treatment, you have to be able to follow all preparation instructions. Keep reading to learn more, including whether it is necessary to shave eyebrows before microblading.

Do You Need to Shave Eyebrows Before Microblading?

You should not shave your eyebrows before microblading in Fort Collins. In fact, it is important that you do not shave your eyebrows before coming in for your appointment. Furthermore, it is vital that you do not wax or tint your eyebrows within 72 hours of your scheduled treatment session. Another extremely important preparation step is to not exercise vigorously or sweat heavily on the day of your treatment session.

It is also important that you do not get a chemical peel within two months of your scheduled treatment session. Furthermore, the use of any medications containing retinol should be avoided to avoid premature brow fading. For 24 hours prior to your appointment, you should not consume caffeine or alcohol. For 48 hours prior to your appointment, you should not consume any drug or supplement that can cause blood thinning.

How Long Will My Results Last?

You can generally expect your ideal results to last for 18 to 30 months. That said, several factors affect the actual longevity of your results. For example, if you get a chemical peel within 60 days of your treatment, it is possible that your brows will fade faster.

As another example, your results may fade faster if your eyebrows are exposed to UV light. Wear sunscreen daily to help prevent premature fading. Moreover, your Fitzpatrick skin type affects the longevity of your results. Other factors that affect how long your results will last include the type of pigment used to dye your new brows and how well you follow aftercare instructions.

How Soon Will I See My Desired Results?

You will need to wait around one to two weeks for your final results. To ensure your results are as satisfactory as possible, it is important that you follow a number of instructions. For instance, you may not sweat heavily during the first 14 days following your treatment. Furthermore, you should not get a chemical peel during the first 60 days following your treatment to ensure your results don’t fade prematurely.

Botox can improve your eyebrow area safely and effectively one month after your microblading session. Botox injections can also be injected into the outer corners of the eyebrows to lift sagging brows and reverse hooded eyelids.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox?

If you’re at least 18 years of age and don’t have any allergies, you’re probably a good Botox candidate. If you have allergies, you may still qualify, though. Typically, the only people with allergies that don’t qualify for Botox injections are those with a history of going into anaphylactic shock or those with a known bovine protein allergy.

Most of the time, Botox is administered into the eyebrow or forehead region to treat cosmetic concerns caused by overly tense muscles. However, this injectable muscle relaxant can also help you improve your appearance if you have other cosmetic concerns.

Am I a Good Candidate for Microblading?

Most individuals who are at least 18 years of age and concerned about the color or shape of their eyebrows will qualify for this treatment. However, there are a number of contraindications that will disqualify you. For example, this treatment will not be deemed appropriate for you if you get Botox injections within 21 days of your scheduled appointment. Similarly, you will be disqualified from treatment if you have used Accutane in the past year.

Breastfeeding and being pregnant are also contraindications of this treatment. Moreover, you will not qualify if you are currently undergoing chemo, are at risk of keloid scarring, or have had an organ transplant. Additionally, if you have a significant heart condition or pacemaker, this treatment will not be deemed appropriate for you. Furthermore, you should reschedule your treatment if you are suffering from an infectious illness or skin irritation.

Microblading is a great way to improve the appearance of your eyebrows. To qualify, you must be able to follow all preparation instructions. One such instruction is to not shave your eyebrows prior to your appointment. Other preparation instructions include not waxing or tinting your brows within three days of your appointment and not sweating heavily the day of your treatment. You will also need to avoid excessive sweating for two weeks post-treatment.
