Interview with Positivity Coach Erica Owens AKA Ms Positivity

HELLO, ERICA OWENS! PLEASE, BRIEFLY INTRODUCE YOURSELF. WHO IS ERICA OWENS YOUR OWN WORDS?
I am a survivor of depression, overeating, abuse, neglect and feeling hopeless who never thought that I was good enough. Through time I realized that I was strategically placed on this earth to be a healer of the soul and of the broken.

YOU ARE ALSO KNOWN AS MS. POSITIVITY, WHY PEOPLE CALL YOU MISS POSITIVITY?
People call me Miss Positivity because every day I find a reason to celebrate me and life. I have overcome so many obstacles and I am ready to share my healing with the world.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT WORKING WITH WALMART?
My most memorable moment working with Walmart was the day that a customer stopped me while I was bagging her groceries and she stated to me that “your smile lights the room and you are simply beautiful inside and out”. She went on to tell me that I was the highlight of her day and that my kind words and gentle nature gave her hope that there are good people that still exist in the world. She told me that she had been diagnosed with cancer and that she was dying but I reassured her that God had the final say so. I told her to be strong, hold on and keep the faith. I knew after that day that Walmart was where I needed to be.

HOW HAS YOUR JOURNEY BEEN FROM HEALTHCARE COORDINATOR TO ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR AT WALMART HEALTH?
My journey from a Healthcare Coordinator until my current role of Assistant Administrator has been nothing short of a true miracle in itself. I was overweight, battling depression, family issues, and I had a very stressful job due to my superiors on the job. I was often ridiculed and told that I wasn’t good enough. One supervisor even made fun of my mental illness (depression) and threatened to fire me. On every job that I would work on, I would always have issues because many of the other employees on the job felt threatened by my presence so they were jealous and tried to everything in their power to discourage me. There I was again feeling like I was not enough. During my time before Walmart, I filed bankruptcy, went through a divorce, and lost 120 pounds. I began a job at Walmart because I was in debt and needed extra money as it was my second job. After coming to Walmart I realized that Walmart made me so happy because I could talk to my customers and make them happy. In six months of being hired as a part-time cashier I was promoted to a team lead and from a team lead I began to apply to Walmart for any and every position I thought that I would qualify for. I applied to Walmart 166 times before I got to Walmart Health!! The point of this is to NEVER GIVE UP!!!
