Popular Musician “SKG” Holds Candlelight Vigil Against Gun Violence

Helecia Choyce, popularly known as SKG organized a candlelight vigil to remember those who lost their lives in Uvalde shooting. In the event, she performed her charity song.

Renowned hip-hop artist SKG, also known as Helecia Choyce, took a powerful stand against gun violence during the BET weekend in Los Angeles.

The musician organized and led a heartfelt candlelight vigil in Korea Town, where she performed her charity song titled “We Didn’t Know.” This was quite an impactful event with a special collaboration with “The West Los Angeles Children’s Choir and Tabiyus Nah,”.

The event did draw the attention of renowned media outlets that includes Comcast News, KTLA 5 News, and Telemundo.

The Tragic and Unfortunate Uvalde Shooting
The recent Uvalde shooting affected SKG immensely, as the world witness the tragic loss of young lives in a numb act of violence. The incident hit SKG deeply and she desired to do her but as a mark of protest and reflect her emotions, her deep hurt and sadness.

She wanted to create a song that might help in creating an awareness. She believes that it might be able to spark change in the face of gun violence.

“We Didn’t Know” emerged from the depths of SKG’s heart. It is a true reflection of the artists genuine emotions and the way she feels that there is an urgent need to bring a change in the society.

The Candlelight Vigil:
The candlelight vigil was a solemn gathering to honor the victims of gun violence. It was about bringing a change. It was an effort to unite the community in their shared objective for a nonviolent society, SKG continues to use her platform to drive discussions and encourage positive change surrounding this critical issue. Even bringing her daughter Yelani Sinclair with her to speak about how gun violence is affecting innocent children in our country.
