Star Wars: Episode IX’s title is ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

After almost two years of pausing, the eagerly awaited finale to the Skywalker Saga finally has a name: “The Rise of Skywalker.”

At Star Wars Celebration in Chicago on Friday, Disney unveiled the main trailer for what has as of recently been called “Star Wars: Episode IX.”

The movie won’t occur straightforwardly after the events of “The Last Jedi,” director J.J. Abrams said Friday during the “Star Wars: Episode IX” panel at the Chicago event.

The trailer highlights voice over from Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, telling Rey, “We’ve passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight.”

She is conveying his hand-me-down lightsaber, presently patched after the occasions of “The Last Jedi,” and staring down the barrel of Kylo Ren’s TIE fighter in a desert.

Through a few cuts we see characters from the past two movies in the most up to date “Star Wars” set of three just as returning top picks, for example, Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian.

The late Carrie Fisher likewise showed up in the trailer. Unused film from “The Force Awakens” has been repurposed to give her character Leia Organa more scenes inside the film. Abrams said that CGI was never an option for extending her presence in the film.
