What Does CMT Music Awards Stand For?

CMT Awards stands for Country Music Television Awards. It’s an annual ceremony recognising excellence in country music videos and television performances, voted on entirely by fans.

The CMT Music Awards, a celebration of country music video and performance excellence, boast a surprisingly long history dating back to 1967. Originally presented by a now-defunct magazine, the awards evolved through various names and partnerships before finding their current home on CMT in 2001. The CMT Awards have adapted to the changing music scene throughout the years, adding new categories and potentially reaching a wider audience with a recent broadcast partner switch.
