Up and coming artist Rvkah has just released her debut music video for her single “Blind Date,” and fans are already buzzing about the femme fatale vibe of the song and video.
HELLO RVKAH, WELCOME TO BLACKBIRD NEWS! WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE SONG?
The song is inspired by my history of dating narcissistic characters, where I was always too afraid to speak up for myself on a date. This song kind of embodies the almost, femme fatale version of myself on a date – where I’m just over it and match my date’s energy back in a sassy way. Like saying the things I would normally be too shy to say on a bad date. In this song, I’m not afraid to speak up.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR THE MUSIC VIDEO?
As I mentioned, I wanted a femme fatale vibe. I knew I wanted to take place at night, and I knew I wanted a French-Gothic mansion to film at. We found the perfect place, and then we incorporated two story lines into the video. One is the girl on the date, looking tired and done with the date. So she decides to trick him into thinking they are going to hook up, but she blindfolds him and leaves him looking for her. The other part of the story, is my alter-ego (the performer in me) dancing around the mansion without a care in the world to what happened to my date haha.
DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER MUSIC VIDEOS OR MUSIC COMING OUT SOON?
Yes! I will be releasing singles all year. My next single comes out in about 6 weeks. It was written with Grammy-Winner and Golden-Globe Nominee, Charlie Midnight (best known for James’ Brown’s “Livin’ In America” alongside songwriter, Jan Fairchild. The track is called “Terminated”.
