Eric Jay Santos, also known as Ewreckage, paid homage to The Beatles with his latest single “Curious”. The 24-year-old’s new song is influenced by the English band’s work from the mid-1960s. By the end of that decade, The Beatles registered nearly 20 #1 hit songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Santos is a chart-topper in his own right, as “Curious” is his seventh song to peak at #1 on the iTunes Portugal Pop Songs chart. Prior to the release, in June of 2022, the Portuguese American Leadership Council of the United States named him their ‘Featured Musician’ of the month.
Santos’ popularity in the South Coast area of Massachusetts, which boasts a large population of Portuguese-Americans, has earned him the nickname “The Prince of New Portugal”. New Portugal consists of New Bedford, Fall River, and Dartmouth, as well as the other Portuguese-influenced communities around the South Coast, Boston, Cape Cod, and Providence, Rhode Island.
“Curious” is about feeling an intense attraction to a romantic interest and the heartfelt desire to form a meaningful connection with them. The song is comparable to The Beatles’ “Eight Days A Week” and “Hello, Goodbye”.
